What events make up your morning routine?

Take a minute to think about the first few things you do every morning and write them down on a sheet of paper. Now ask yourself if your morning consists of events that help you to have the best day possible.

If you get up, sit in front of the computer and play solitaire for 30 minutes or skip out on a nutritious breakfast, you may want to reevaluate that morning routine. Believe it or not, the rest of your day and how good or bad it goes, depends on it.

The person who eats a healthy breakfast and goes on a short walk or lifts weights in the morning, will have much more energy and achieve more throughout the day. The person who wakes up and surfs the Internet or checks their phone for notifications, will most likely waste 30 minutes they could have spent on their health. Instead it was spent on an electronic device.

Social media is entrenched in our lives and there’s no reason you shouldn’t be using it, but if you’re not careful, it can take away from your productivity. After a routine morning check-in on a social media site, don’t linger for too long. I recommend picking 3 days of the week to do a social media sweep at a specific time – Don’t let it take longer than 10 minutes!

Also, check your phone at 2 or 3 specific times throughout the day. Don’t just sit there and constantly check it. You won’t get anything done! Please don’t be a slave to your phone.

Your morning should be all about YOU. Use it to prep your mind and body for the day ahead.

By nourishing yourself you’ll engender happiness, health and an individual who is capable of nourishing others. If you take care of yourself, you’ll be better able to take care of your friends, family and the people you care about. If you’re free of disease, strong mentally and physically and are happy with yourself, you’ll have more energy to spend on others (because you won’t be busy trying to “fix” yourself). You’ll also be in a good mood more often!

Great things to tackle first thing in the morning:
– Workout with your trainer
– Eat breakfast!
– Stretch
– Meditate
– Write down your daily goals
– Most importantly…brush your teeth

Remember, you’re the one who decides to make a change. Make changes that will benefit you and your life!!
