  • I've worked with excellent trainers before, so I know when somebody knows her stuff. Meryl had a plan from day one, and is relentless in helping me implement it. She's also a fierce advocate for me on days when I'm not feeling able to give my best. I've a long way to go before I get to the "destination", but I have no doubt about Meryl's ability to help me get there. Training sessions are fun, varied, and tough in exactly the way they should be. I've made tangible gains in two months and feel better than I have in years.

  • Working with meryl has been a joy! I am by no means an athlete or a health nut. I'd sit forever and live off donuts if i could (I probably have at times). I was waaaay off the fitness wagon when I started with meryl but she has gotten me on track! It's actually fun to work out now ( close to fun as it will ever be for a person who loves to lounge as much as I do). I'm on my second leg of training and I have had amazing results in body fat percentage reduction, weight loss and overall fitness in just 2 months. I'm now motivated to keep my fitness goals going and her training has been instrumental in getting me to this place. She's also fantastic at working with people with injuries. Highly recommended!

A lot of stress is created from events that happen unexpectedly. The reason we get stressed when things happen that we haven’t planned is because the unexpected events ruin our plans! In order to effectively handle unexpected events, you need to become a master in dealing with them.

The first step in doing so is to realize how powerful you are. If you said to yourself, “What? I’m not powerful!” Please eliminate that belief. You are powerful and you can handle ANYTHING life throws at you. Instead of worrying HOW you’re going to get through something or handle or deal with an event in your life, brainstorm ACTIONS you can take to alleviate the issue. The only way to handle the unexpected is to get out of your chair, come up with problem solving ideas and walk out the door in order to put those ideas into action.

If you don’t think you can take action on your own or you’re too afraid, that’s OK! It’s normal to feel that way. Ask close friends for advice, people you meet while you’re out running errands who you believe may have the knowledge you need, or post a question on YAHOO! Answers, Facebook or Twitter. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Exercise is also very helpful in eliminating stress. Exercise releases tension, makes you feel great and makes you look awesome too. For me, weight lifting is very effective in reducing stress and clearing my mind. If you’re having trouble sleeping at night because you’re worried about something, I guarantee any form of exercise will help you sleep better because it gets rid of that nervous energy you have in your body. That means you’ll have more energy to handle the lingering difficulties in your life!

Here are some great forms of exercise you can use to eliminate stress:

•     Yoga is great exercise for people of all ages because there’s no impact involved.  Yoga is a blend of strengthening and stretching.Yoga Accessories has everything you could possibly need to get a good yoga workout.

•    If you want a workout that’s a little more intense and you can handle a little more impact, I HIGHLY recommend TRX Suspension Training. One of the things most people overlook when they’re trying to manage stress levels is how their home environment affects them. Are your roommates amplifying your stress? Are your walls painted a dark color that drains your energy? You may become even more stressed when you step into your home or apartment because it’s disorganized.

Take a minute to think about all of the things in your own environment that stress you out, write them down on a piece of paper and schedule a day in the next week to take actions that will solve the stress enhancing problem(s) in your home. If it’s your roommate that’s causing a problem, ask them out for coffee and politely discuss the things that are bothering you.

Approach the topic by saying, “I noticed you _______, and that makes me feel ________.” Fill in the blanks and only say this one sentence – don’t add any negative remarks. Simply describe what they do that makes you feel poorly and LISTEN to their response. Try to find a solution that benefits both of you!
