From this moment on, I want you to expunge all of the negative thoughts keeping you from accomplishing your dreams.

You don’t have time to waste on negative thinking.

If anything, you should wake up every morning, look yourself in the mirror and say, “I am awesome. I am unstoppable. You just watch me accomplish all of my dreams!”

But watch out for negative people – they’re everywhere. They often say things to bring you down, either because they’re jealous of your accomplishments or because they’re trying to feel better about themselves (by bringing you down, they keep you on their level).

Negative people are most often jealous of your ambitious nature, talents or positive attitude, so it’s best to stay away.

When you’re trying to figure out what you want out of life or how you’re going to accomplish a specific dream, I encourage you to listen to your thoughts. What runs through your mind?

Listen and challenge your thoughts. The more you question the ideas you come up with and focus on the pros and cons of each one, the more likely you are to make a good decision.

Write ideas down about decisions you’re trying to make as they come to you so you can see them. Cross them out, circle them, color code them and organize them in a way that makes sense to you.

Your gut, or conscience, is a good starting point, but it’s not the only factor that goes into good decision-making. Start with the gut, then use logic, and then make a decision.

For example:

– I get a hunch that I should be in the circus and have a FEELING it would be a good idea.

– Next, I sort things out LOGICALLY. I spend all of my extra time flipping around on the grass. I’ve been miserable at every desk job I’ve ever had. I have plenty of money in my savings account to keep me afloat for two years while I’m searching for a job in the circus – so it sounds logical to join the circus.

– After sleeping on the idea for two to three nights, I make my move. I quit my desk job and head out to join the circus!

If I had just gone with my gut feeling and not used any reasoning in the decision making process, I may have left for the circus with only six months of savings, or I may have regretted my decision because I didn’t evaluate how badly I had hurt my back two years ago, which would have made me undesirable in a circus environment.

It’s good to think things over but it’s also crucial that you don’t sit around and wonder what life would be like IF you pursued your dream or ponder what path to take for too long. Think about your options for a few days and then take action! There is no time to waste.

Once you become good at this process, it will take you less and less time to make GREAT decisions. This leads to more and more time doing what makes you happy, and more success.

I encourage you to use this decision making process to help you figure out what courses of action to follow on a daily basis.
