If you’re working out, have a hectic schedule and you’re trying to eat clean, it is vital to take supplements so that you get the vitamins, nutrients and minerals your body needs.
If you’re working out regularly, cutting down on carbs, sugar or fat AND you’re busy, it’s almost impossible to sit down and fill your plate with EVERY little nutrient you need to maintain optimal health.
If you’re thinking you DO get every little nutrient you need each day, that’s all right. But, let’s think it through first.
Do you eat at least 2 full cups of vegetables each day? Do you get 2-4 servings of calcium (this is very important if you’re a female), at least one piece of fruit and whole grains and enough protein (lean meat)? Probably not!
It’s difficult when you’re juggling a job, a family and extracurricular activities, to get all of the vitamins, minerals and nutrients you need…That’s where supplements come into play!
So, what supplements do you need? Well, that’s a hard question to answer, especially if I don’t know your health history and current activity level. What I can tell you is that you don’t need to take every supplement in the book, but you most likely need to take a few.
It is easy for you to come up with the supplements you need if you just think about your current health levels, issues you have, your health history and the kind of working out you do.
For example: Dawn is a 45-year-old female who lifts light weights, she’s on a diet which has caused her to cut down on carbs and sugar so she’s not as energetic as usual, she’s VERY BUSY, has poor blood circulation, arthritis and trouble falling asleep at night. For Dawn, I would recommend a multivitamin so that she gets all of the nutrients she needs while dieting, an energy supplement to give her a boost while she’s cutting carbs and sugar, CoQ10 to enhance her blood circulation, joint support supplement to combat her arthritis and a melatonin supplement to take off that extra edge she has so that she can fall asleep faster.
Think about what areas you need a boost in and where your diet falls short, grab some supplements at your local nutrition and supplement store and start taking them right away!
If you live in the Los Angeles area, I recommend Got Muscle? for all of your supplement needs!
