Having one day per week where you don’t eat healthy is great for your metabolism!

If you stick to a lifestyle of eating healthy foods and exercising daily, then taking one day a week away from the gym and grabbing some pancakes or a slice of pizza will actually kick your metabolism through the roof!

Here are some wonderful cheat foods I recommend for your cheat day:

1. Whole wheat pancakes with reduced fat butter and maple syrup

2. Any item from SMART FOR LIFE! They offer cookies, cupcakes, cereals and other items you normally wouldn’t be able to eat that don’t cause you to pack on pounds.

3. Haagen-Dazs frozen yogurt with sliced strawberries and Ghirardelli chocolate syrup

4. The leanest hamburger meat you can find between two slices of Rudi’s Double Fiber Bread with pickles, organic ketchup from Whole Foods and reduced fat grated cheddar cheese.

5. Garden of Eatin’ Multigrain Blues Chips topped with reduced fat sour cream, pico de gallo, ground turkey and reduced fat monterey jack and cheddar cheese

6. Enjoy Life Soft Baked Cookies

7. Zen Bakery Bran Muffins with reduced fat butter and Smucker’s Simply Fruit

Don’t stuff yourself on your cheat day. Just enjoy the cheat foods and eat at a normal pace. The end result of stuffing yourself is never good!

  • I've worked with excellent trainers before, so I know when somebody knows her stuff. Meryl had a plan from day one, and is relentless in helping me implement it. She's also a fierce advocate for me on days when I'm not feeling able to give my best. I've a long way to go before I get to the "destination", but I have no doubt about Meryl's ability to help me get there.   • Working with meryl has been a joy! I am by no means an athlete or a health nut. I'd sit forever and live off donuts if i could (I probably have at times). I was waaaay off the fitness wagon when I started with meryl but she has gotten me on track! It's actually fun to work out now (well...as close to fun as it will ever be for a person who loves to lounge as much as I do). I'm on my second leg of training and I have had amazing results in body fat percentage reduction, weight loss and overall fitness in just 2 months. Actually, if you do stick to the same diet for too long, your body will get used to it and your metabolism will plateau. The cheat day keeps your metabolism guessing and that means you’re gonna burn more calories. Don’t forget to cheat!
